Eunice man arrested for attempted murder
CROWLEY – A 30-year-old Eunice man is being held in the Acadia Parish charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder following a domestic incident Monday evening.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon dispatchers with 911 received a call from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office from a female that was being chased by her ex-husband.
A short time later the suspect ran the victim’s vehicle off the road and flipped his vehicle landing on top of her vehicle. The victim, age 29 and her 12-year-old son locked themselves in the vehicle for safety. The suspect then kicked in the windshield and pulled the victim out of the vehicle and into a wooded area. The victim’s son then ran down the road to render assistance for his mother. A short time later, family members arrived on the scene along with a passing motorist whose vehicle was stolen by the suspect.
The suspect, Justin Cole Thibodeaux, returned a short time later where he was taken into custody by deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The mother and her son were transported to Doctor’s Hospital in Opelousas where they were treated and released.
The suspect was transported a Church Point hospital where he was treated for moderate injuries.
Thibodeaux remains in the Acadia Parish Jail where he is being charged with Resisting an Officer, Reckless Operation, 2 counts Attempted First Degree Murder, Violation of a Protective Order, Simple Battery of a Juvenile, Simple Battery, Unauthorized Use of A Motor Vehicle.
District Judge Edwards set bond at $321,483.50.
