Eva Steine Yokum
Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Steine Yokum, 68, were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Starlight Baptist Church in Rayne. Internment followed in West Crowley Cemetery in Crowley.
Rev. Tony Gibson officiated the services.
Mrs. Yokum was a lifelong resident of Rayne. She passed away at the Rayne Guest Home in Rayne on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013. She worked as a caregiver for many years and enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. She was a faithful member of the Starlight Baptist Church where she served in the Mission Department and on the Song Committee in the Missionary Choir. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Louis Yokum Jr.; one daughter, Darlene James and husband, Marcus; two grandsons, Ja Marcus and Da Marcus James, all of Rayne; three brothers, Alvin Sr. (Agnes), Calvin Sr. (Eva Jean) and Valmore Minix Jr.; a special son, Tracy Carter; a godchild, Yvette Broussard, all of Rayne; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Valmore Minix Sr. and Evalenna Brown Minix; sisters, Alberta Carter and Katherine Thibo; and a nephew, Michael Carter.
Active pallbearers were Ja Marcus James, Da Marcus James, Alvin Minix Jr., Gregory Minix Sr., Kerold Broussard and Xavier Minix.
Visitation hours were observed at the Starlight Baptist Church in Rayne, starting at 8 a.m. until time of service Saturday, Nov. 16.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wilturner Funeral Home in Crowley.
