The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s office made several narcotic-related arrests recently.

One of the first arrests occurred Thursday, May 15, when Captain Keith Dupre, chief of detectives for the sheriff’s office, received information suggesting Michelle Lee Miller, also known as Michelle Lee Frey, 36, was allegedly selling pills from a “Hot Shot” truck.

Dupre and Detective/Sgt. Hale set up a buy from Miller with the assistance of Ville Platte Police Detectives Ervin Pitre and Sgt. Joseph Fontenot. Shortly after executing a purchase from Miller, officers arrested her and recovered the money used in the transaction.

Miller, 1302 North Dock Road, Ville Platte, was charged with distribution of hydrocodone. She was released on a $2,500 bond.

Law enforcement authorities joined forces again Tuesday, May 20, to pick up Austin Healy Brecken, 18, 1232 Rockpit Road, Ville Platte, who was being charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Sgt. Hale received information about a plant at the residence. When Hale and Ville Platte officers arrived, they located marijuana plants growing at the back door. They were preparing to secure a search warrant when Brecken and Joseph Lee Willis, 19, 11458 Veterans Memorial, Ville Platte, arrived at the scene. They gave officers permission to search. No other plants were located. Both were booked on cultivation of marijuana charges.
