CHATAIGNIER - The Chataignier Village Council heard from Suzy Lemoine during its meeting Monday, March 17, regarding the Evangeline Project.

Lemoine, who has been promoting the project for the Evangeline Parish Tourism Commission, took council members on a tour of the Chataignier Library, where a maquette of Evangeline is on display, as well as all the information regarding the project.

The project includes the creation of a life-sized statue of Evangeline, the heroine of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s famous poem, to be placed in front of the Evangeline Parish Courthouse. Lemoine said this project will give tourists a new destination in the parish, as many have traveled here to see Evangeline.
