Evening ceremony unites Bertrand, Berthelot

LAFAYETTE - Ashley Nicole Bertrand and Benjamin James Berthelot were united in holy matrimony on Friday, April 30, 2010 at a 7 p.m. ceremony celebrated at Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church. Reverend Monsignor Harry Denis Greig officiated the ceremony with co-celebrant Father Chester Arceneaux.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. Adam Dale and Mrs. Joan Bertrand of Abbeville and the late Debra LeJeune Bertrand of Iota. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lois Bertrand of Evangeline and the late Asa Bertrand and the late Ivan and Wanda Ruth LeJeune of Iota.

She is a graduate of Iota High School and a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is the Director of Marketing for Professional Arts Pharmacy.

The groom is the son of Mr. Barry and Mrs. Becky Berthelot and Mr. Louis Ledet and Mrs. Becky Greig-Ledet, all of Lafayette. He is the grandson of the late Harry and Jessie Greig of Lafayette and the late Francis Xavier and Evelyn Berthelot of Chalmette.

He is a graduate of Saint Thomas More Catholic High School and a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is currently the Director of Community Development for Lafayette Consolidated Government.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory, strapless, fit and flare gown with champagne beading and lace ornamenting the bodice neckline and accenting the side waist and lower hip. The gown featured a dramatic chapel length train with a hand pleated edge to coincide with a single layer cathedral length veil. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses, hydrangea, parrot tulips and berries. She also had her late mother’s wedding set tied into the arrangement.

Serving as matron of honor was Kimberly Schneider, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Paige Broussard, friend of the bride, Jamie Soileau and Lauren LeJeune, both cousins of the bride. They wore black dupioni silk knee length dresses carrying bouquets of green hydrangea. The flower girl was Riley Ann Bertrand, niece of the bride.

Serving as best man was Luke Berthelot, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Ross Berthelot, Hayes Berthelot, both brothers of the groom and Jerome Landreneau, step-brother of the groom. Ushers were Corey Bertrand, brother of the bride, Judd Ledet and Todd Ledet, both step-brothers of the groom, Jake Greig, cousin of the groom, Brad Geoffroy and Garrett Manuel, both friends of the groom. Ring bearer was Hudson Berthelot, Godchild of the groom.

The readers for the ceremony were Jerome “Jerry” Greig, Godfather of the groom and L.J. “Joey” Durel Jr., friend of the groom. Prayers of the Faithful were read by Amy Newman Barnett and Sara Newman, both step-sisters of the bride.

Offertory gifts were presented by Ashley Morgan Bertrand, sister-in-law of the bride, Jessica Berthelot and Tanya Berthelot, both sister-in-laws of the groom.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at River Oaks in honor of the newly wedded couple. After a Caribbean cruise, they will reside in Lafayette.
