Fall wedding bells ring for Rigsby and Broussard
Shannon Marie Rigsby and Travis Raymond Broussard were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Abbeville. The eleven o’clock morning ceremony was officiated by Reverends Pres Riley, pastor, and the co-celebrant was Bill Rigsby, pastor of North Anderson Baptist Church, Anderson, SC. He is the uncle of the bride.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Ansel Rigsby, Sr., of Abbeville. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hemelt and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lowry Rigsby.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Broussard of Abbeville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Neal of Rockwood, TN, and Mr. and Mrs. Justin Broussard of Abbeville.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white taffeta gown featuring a bodice embellished with crystals and beading, a V-neckline, a full A-line skirt and chapel length train. To complete her ensemble, the bride wore a fingertip veil and carried a hand-tied bouquet of orange Amazon roses.
Tabatha Warren of Abbeville served as the Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids included Ashley Rigsby and Gabriella Mixon of Tylertown, MS, both nieces of the bride. The Flower Girl was Emma Rigsby of Mandeville, niece of the bride.
Chris Butler of Abbeville served as the Best Man. Groomsmen for the ceremony were Andrew Primeaux of Erath, nephew of the groom, and Jimmy Mixon of Tylertown, nephew of the bride. The Ring Bearers for the wedding were Anthony and Zachary Broussard, sons of the bride and groom. Ushers for the event included Eric Broussard, father of the groom and Tommy Rigsby, Jr., brother of the bride. Serving as Junior Usher was Houston Mixon of Tylertown, nephew of the bride.
Shannon is a graduate of Abbeville High School from the Class of 2000. She has also graduated from Louisiana Tech College, Gulf Area Campus with an Associates degree in Business and Office Management. Travis is a graduate of Seminole High School and Florida State University, with a degree in Horticulture and an Associates degree in Business.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Magdalen Place in Abbeville. After a honeymoon trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the couple will reside in Abbeville.
