Fatal crash in Calcasieu Parish
On July 6, 2012, shortly after 9 p.m., troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two vehicle crash north of Westlake on Louisiana Highway 378 that claimed the life of a Longville man.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1999 Mazda 626 driven by 49-year-old Rodie Kelley of Longville was traveling west on Hudson road approaching a stop sign at Highway 378. Kelley stopped at the stop sign then traveled forward into the path of a 2000 Ford F-350 that was traveling north on Highway 378 driven by 30-year-old Daniel Crosby of Westlake.
The Ford truck struck the driver’s side of the Mazda car. Kelley suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office. Crosby was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belt.
A toxicology sample was obtained from the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
