Felix Dugar, Jr.
CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held for Felix Dugar, Jr., 83, on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Greater Love Family Worship Center in Crowley.
Visitation will take place from 8 a.m. until the time of services at Wilturner Funeral Home.
A native and resident of Crowley, Mr. Dugar passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Summerwood Nursing Home while surrounded by family.
Mr. Dugar was born on October 24, 1925 to the late Mary Ruffin Dugar and Felix Dugar, Sr. He served his country during World War II, for which he received two medals of honor. While serving in the U.S. Army, Felix met and married Dorothy Mae (Miller) Dugar, and to this union ten children were born. During this time, he also became a member of American Legion Post 509.
Felix leaves to cherish his memories Joseph Butch Dugar of Tacoma, Wash.; Emeldia Marie Dugar of San Antonio, Texas; Pearl Marie Dugar Canales of Houston; Dora Gail “Tiny” Dugar of Crowley; Betty Mae Dugar of Charlotte, N.C.; Marcel “Bonnie” Dugar of Lafayette; and Amanda Sias of Rayne.
He also leaves to cherish a very special host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Felix has twenty-two grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren; and one special godchild, Richard Sputnik Savoy, Jr. of Fort Smith, Ark.
Felix was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Dugar, Sr.; his loving wife, Dorothy Mae Miller Dugar; three loving sons, Harold, Felix and Michael James Dugar; one daughter, Veronica Dugar; three brother, Leroy, Joseph and Roosevelt Dugar; two sisters, Rosa Bell Dugar and Lizzie Dugar Reed; and one step-sister, Josephine Dangerfield.
Services will be conducted by Bishop Louis Dugar. Burial will take place in the West Crowley Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Wilturner Funeral Home of Crowley.
