Fire destroys Crowley home

By Howell Dennis

CROWLEY – A home on Fairway Drive caught fire and quickly spread as members of the Crowley Fire Department worked hard to eventually get the blaze under control.

The home was a rental property owned by Young Properties of Crowley.

A cloud of black smoke enveloped the entire street and was visible across the entire town. Onlookers wiped their eyes due to the thickness of the smoke and with every shift of the wind people would take off the other direction to get out of the smoke’s path.

Weary firefighters exited the structure as the blaze was getting under control to rehydrate before reentering the structure.

“The Crowley firefighters did a wonderful job,” said property owner Joey Young. “They were here really quickly and got the fire under control. Those guys work so hard ... I don’t think people understand what their job entails.”

“Luckily their were no injuries and I’ve already found another home for my renter,” Young added.
