First Fall Fest to be held
CROWLEY – Providencia Rita Johnson, Crowley’s Main Street Manager and Kayla Link, President and CEO of the Crowley Chamber of Commerce, will partner to bring Crowley’s first annual Fall Fest, a Louisiana Main to Main St. event celebrating the culture in Historic Downtown Crowley during the month of November.
Fall Fest kicks off with early holiday shopping beginning on November 6th- with Ribbons and Rice including special offers from participating merchants - and will continue through Saturday, November 8, 2008. On November 6th, from 6 PM – 8 PM come to The Gallery for the Art Gala featuring over 40 artists.
Continuing on Friday, November 14 with Main Street Alive from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the grounds of the Crowley Enterprise Center with live entertainment from Leon Chavis and the Zyedco Flames and continuing with Damon Troy and Party Time.
November 15 is an all day affair starting off at 7 a.m. with preparation for the Rice Capital Championship Gumbo Cook-off. At 9 a.m. the Poker Run begins. While waiting on the gumbo and the return of the Poker Run Riders, enjoy the Kids Day Out which starts at 11 a.m., with activities for children beginning at toddler through age 13 with fun jumps, petting zoo, pony rides, face painting and much more. The cost for children is $1 per child. As the children are enjoying themselves, the parents can browse and shop the booths at the Main Street Market. Also, starting at 11 a.m., vendors will be selling a variety of items. During the course of the day, those providing the entertainment will be Jamie Bergeron and the Kicking Cajuns, Geno DelaFosse and French Rockin’ Boogie. All of this and some hot gumbo too.
To end the Fall Fest celebration, they will top it all off with a Day of Praise on November 22 at The Historic Rice Theatre beginning at 6:30 p.m. Performances from area youth groups and Shades of Praise, an Interracial Gospel Choir out of New Orleans. Advance tickets will be on sale beginning November 6. Organizers are looking forward to Fall Fest, a new and exciting event for the city of Crowley.
