Frances Marie Sonnier Gautreaux
Duson—A Mass of Christian Burial for Frances Marie Sonnier Gautreaux, 90, of Duson will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson. Serving as celebrant will be Father Allen Breaux. Interment will follow in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.
Mrs. Gautreaux passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 3:30 P.M. in a Lafayette hospital.
A native of Acadia Parish, Mrs. Gautreaux had lived in Duson for much of her life. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, making popcorn balls, gardening, and sewing. Mrs. Gautreaux was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, and was formerly a member of Catholic Daughters of America. Her greatest joy in life was caring for and spending time with her family, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Delhomme and husband, Preston of Duson, Beverly Prejean of Duson, Rose Dogie and husband, Harry of Duson, Emily Duhon and companion, Kim Chaisson of Osson, Eva Harrington and husband, Jim of Sugar Land, TX, and Connie Myers and husband, Curley of Sweeny, TX; sons, Roy Gautreaux and wife, Betty of Rayne, Johnny Gautreaux and wife, Gayle of Church Point, Jeffery Gautreaux and companion, Charlene Comeaux of Duson, and Kimmy Gautreaux and wife, Elaine of Duson; step-daughter, Lucille Thibodeaux and husband, Raymond of Duson; sisters, Virginia Pepper of Lafayette, and Helen Pastor of Crowley; brother, Pierre Sonnier and wife, Amy of Welch; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Meche of Egan; 27 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding Mrs. Gautreaux in death were her husband of 38 years, Eddie B. Gautreaux; son, Clarence Meche; parents, Julian and Ella Sonnier; sisters, Alice LeJeune, Beulah Bourque, Loris Carrier, and Lula Mae Cancienne; brothers, Clariel Sonnier and Lawrence Sonnier; and sons-in-law, Geral Duhon and Carlton Prejean.
Serving as pallbearers are Bryan Dogie, Kevin Delhomme, Mark Prejean, Lonnie Gautreaux, Gavin Gautreaux, Gus Cancino, Jacob Roger, and Jordan Dogie. Named as honorary pallbearers are Roy Gautreaux, Johnny Gautreaux, Jeffery Gautreaux, Kimmy Gautreaux, Josh Prejean, and Toby Meche.
