CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the First Baptist Church for Frances “Fran” Schell Gilbert, 87, who died Saturday, December 13, 2008 in Crowley.
Rev. Roger Tarver, Pastor of First Baptist Church will conduct the Funeral service and the Burial at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation was held Monday from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will continue Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Gilbert was born November 1, 1921 in Crowley to the late Charlie and Clara Reinhardt Schell. She was raised in Dallas by her aunt and uncle, Anna and Denville Johnson and went on to work for the Federal Government in the draft board and other military bases for 30 years of service. She was a member of the Oddfellow’s and Rebecca’s lodge. She loved life, she traveled the world, and she read her Bible everyday and made friends everywhere she went.
She is survived by two nieces, Aline S. Nelson and Robin S. Luquette both of Crowley; two nephews, E. Charles Stakes and Merritt Stakes both of Crowley; six great nieces and nephews; a great-great niece, and many cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Margaret S. Stakes and Genevieve S. Stakes.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
