A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point for Frank Simon, 74, who died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010 at his home in Lyons Point.
Fr. Don Leger and Fr. David Broussard will co-celebrate the Mass and the Committal services at the church cemetery. Deacon Rodless Leleux and Deacon Tom Summers will also assist with the Mass. Visitation may be observed from 11 a.m. Tuesday until 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until service time. The Rosary will be led by Fr. Don Leger at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Frank was born July 22, 1935 in Lyons Point to the late Frank and Josephine Dronet Simon. He was a lifelong member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church and a Eucharistic Minister to shut-ins. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and uncle who loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Velta Simon of Lyons Point; four daughters Geretta and her husband, Clayton Domingue of Lyons Point, Gayla and her husband Allen Leblanc of San Jose, Cal., Rechelle and her husband Kevin Broussard of Lyons Point and Rhonda and her husband Scott Broussard of Morse; two sons Kevin Simon of Lyons Point and Kemmeth Simon and his wife Nicole of Lyons Point; a daughter-in-law Missy Simon of New Iberia and a close family friend Kim Guidry; 25 grandchildren Heather and her husband Jonathan Moore, Heidi and her husband Matt Monceaux, Hillary and her husband Adam Menard, Hannah, Holly, Allen Dale II, Colleen and her husband Jason Rimmer, Naomi, Frankie, Hayley, Shevon, Camille, Maria, Matthew, Luke, Caleb, Tomie, Timothy, Tori, Darian, Jordan, Kemmeth II, Zachary, Jacob, and Chelsey; six great-grandchildren Jon Michael, Ashlyn, Emily, Isaac, Hayden, and Nathan; three sisters-in-law Myrtice Long of Col., Alisha Touchet and Lorena Primeaux both of Lyons Point.
Pallbearers will be his sons and sons-in-law and the grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters Effie Abshire, Avey Hanks and Jeanette Broussard; and three brothers Ceaser Simon, Sr., Bill Simon and Do Simon.
