Free health expo set Oct. 25
Members of the Acadia Parish Health Expo planning committee met recently to make final preparations for the event, scheduled for Saturday, October 25, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The expo will be free to the public and will be held at the Crowley Rice Festival Building, 717 West Mill Street. The Crowley and Rayne Chambers of Commerce and title sponsor, Compass Health, are the driving forces behind this year’s expo.
The objective of this free event is to educate the citizens of Acadia Parish on the various medical services available within the community and encourage the health and well-being of its citizens.
Flu shots will be available to anyone over eight years of age. Wellness Express will provide shots at a cost of $20 each. United Blood Services will also be on site conducting a blood drive to support the needs of Acadia Parish hospitals.
Visitors to the expo can learn more about healthy cooking and portion control through demonstrations offered by Acadia Parish 4-H’ers at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m
Friends and Family CPR training will be offered by the staff of Compass Health at 11 a.m.
Dr. Tina Stefanski, Regional Director, Department of Health and Hospitals, will speak about current health issues in a presentation at 10 a.m.
Afree lunch, courtesy of Southwind, will be available to all in attendance.
Door prizes and giveaways will continue throughout the day, as well.
