Frog Festival to stage ‘Sneak Peek’ Thursday
The Rayne Chamber of Commerce is pleased to be hosting the 2009 Rayne Frog Festival, which is celebrating its 37th year on Nov 12-14.
Important changes for the annual Rayne Frog Festvial this year include the dates being permanently moved to November and a shift in the days of the festival to Thursday-Saturday.
Miller Amusements opened the festival with $1.50 ride night at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11. No gate admission was charged Wednesday.
Introduced this year is a festival “Sneak Peek” on Thursday night. Entertaining attendees will be Geno Delafose & French Rocking Boogie starting at 7:30 p.m.. Admission at the gate will be $3.00 for adults. Children will be admitted for free. Miller Amusement will be offering their Armband Special beginning at 5:00 p.m..
Festival booths and other activities officially begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, with opening ceremonies on the stage under the pavilion.
Gate admission for the weekend is $1.00 for children under 12 years of age. Adult admission price on Friday will be $5 and $5 Saturday until 3:00 p.m. and $7 after 3:00 p.m.
Inside the Civic Center, adjacent to the festival grounds, the Frog Festival Arts and Crafts Show will feature booths offering a wide variety of handmade items. The show, hosted by the Rayne Beautification Board, will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Miller Amusement’s carnival rides will be open on Sunday.
Festival goers will be sheltered from the elements when the 2009 Rayne Frog Festival opens under the 20,000 sq. ft. pavilion located on the festival grounds just off I-10.
