The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is presently investigating an early morning shooting that occurred Friday, August 1, near Rayne.According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, his office received a call at approximately 3:15 a.m. from an individual that reported that a male subject had been shot.  
As of today (Friday), those who punch an official at one of their children’s sporting events will face jail time.  This law, as well as 550 others, officially went into effect at midnight. The new laws and changes to existing laws were passed by the Louisiana Legislature this year. 
The St. Landry Parish man who pleaded guilty to killing two women has been denied a third request for rehearing.
