A strong thunderstorm system with high winds and pelting rain passed through Acadia Parish early Sunday morning leaving several downed trees, many residents without power, high water in some areas and downed a telephone pole which damaged the Chevron station at the corner of Oddfellows Rd. and Hwy. 1111.
For some years now, Acadia Parish’s dual enrollment programs have been growing. Academically, high schools have offered college math and English courses to college-bound seniors.

More than 350 supporters attended Acadia General Hospital’s 2016 Gala held at the Grand Opera House in Crowley on Friday, April 15. The annual event raised $132,000 to benefit the expansion for the hospital’s new emergency room. Since the inaugural gala in 2015, more than $700,000 has been raised for the capital campaign project.

The Crowley Police Department is investigating the felony theft of a yellow 60 inch Hustler Super Z Zero Turn mower and two Kee push mowers stolen during the early morning hours of July 24, from Southwest Louisiana Community College (SLCC), located at 1933 W.
