Former Assistant District Attorney David Smith has been keeping busy moving into his new office this week following his election as Acadia Parish’s newest district judge.

After months on the campaign trail and countless public appearances, one might think that newly-elected David Smith may take a few days off to relax before he is sworn in as Acadia Parish’s newest district judge. However, he is still waiting for the chance. 
A Crowley woman has filed a lawsuit against the city, the police chief and two officers based on an admission in October by the city council that steps mandated by state law for the hiring and promotion of police officers had not been taken.
