Via the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office's Nixle alert system, the Acadia Parish Police Jury has advised the public of the reopening of a bridge in the parish. The bridge on Gumpoint Road, just south of Cole Gully Road, was reopened Friday afternoon.
Chief KP Gibson reports that two Crowley juveniles have been indicted by a grand jury as adults regarding an attempted murder investigation.  The incident occurred on April 26, 2014 in the 1200 block of Jacobs Avenue.

Crowns donated as Crowley pageants near

Ahead of the final month of her reign, Miss Crowley 2013, Allison Hoffpauir, dresses a table full of photos and more memories from her 2013-14 reign. The table, along with others created by Teen Miss and Junior Miss Crowley, will be on display at City Hall during the month of July. The 2014 Miss Crowley pageants will be held July 26, and the final day to register to compete is Tuesday, July 1. Those interested can register at Crowley City Hall from noon until 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The Crowley Professional Women’s Club recently accepted donations of the crowns for the 2014 Miss, Teen Miss and Junior Miss Crowley Queens.

Guidry named 2014 Lion of the Year

2014 LION OF THE YEAR honors were presented to Michael Guidry, left, by Daniel Simoneaux, chairman of the selection committee during the installation banquet of the Rayne club Thursday night.

Weather doesn’t dampen interest in 2014 Rice Field Day

A group of farmers, rice industry personnel and Rice Research Station personnel gather to await the beginning of Rice Field Day activities Wednesday. The annual event showcases the advances in rice farming as well as provides useful information across the field concerning the industry, legislation and more.

With light rain falling here and there, you might expect the turnout for the 2014 Rice Field Day at the LSU AgCenter Rice Research Station.

Break in burglaries case

Jarius Watson and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested Saturday in connection with the burglary-string in the Historic District area of Crowley.

Alert citizens along with a quick action of the responding officer have led to the break in a string of residential burglaries in east Crowley over the past weekend.
