Full-time RV life: home is what you travel in

Escaping the traditional life of one home at one location forever is the life a travelling RV group leads.

Betty’s RV Park is playing host to the Excapees RV Club of Texas as members of the club travel to Abbeville to explore the area during the Mardi Gras period. The club members hail from all across America and have met and made friends with each other as they have travelled and explored other parts of the nation.

With over 100,000 members in the club, the one thing they all share in common is the love to travel. The travel club even acts as their place of residence and will forward mail to the members whereever they settle down. As a full-time RV club, most of the members said they have sold their traditional homes and simply live in their RV’s. They communicate with each other through a Yahoo travel group on the internet to keep in touch and let other travelers know where everyone else is heading out to visit on the next stop.

Jim Baker, from eastern Washington state, said “We like to follow the sun a lot. The group we’re touring with now will be in Abbeville anywhere from two to the next four weeks.”

Other members of the group in Abbeville hail from Oregon, Washington, Kansas, Michigan, Arizona, California, Montana, Pennsylvania, Iowa and North Dakota.
