Funeral rites set for Breaux, 102
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Rayne for Jean Percy Breaux, 102.
Burial will follow in Our Mother of Mercy Church Cemetery.
Mr. Breaux passed away at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital in Lafayette on Sunday, February 13, 2011.
He was born on December 18, 1908, in Duson to Louis and Rosa Breaux .
Visitation will be held at Wilturner Funeral Home of Crowley from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, February 19.
He was employed as a carpenter for many years and worked throughout the city of Rayne. He was also an active member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.
In 1943, he was inducted into the 1596th AAF Base Unit stationed in Wilmington, Delaware. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Corps in 1945.
In 2008, Mr. Percy was recognized by the city of Rayne as being one of Rayne’s oldest living citizens.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his children, Carolyn Breaux of Lafayette, Darrel (Dorothy) Breaux of Crowley, Richard (Kathleen) Breaux of Lafayette, Lawrence Breaux of Rayne, Donald (Kathy) Breaux of Missouri City, Texas, Henrietta B. Jones of Lafayette and Carlton Breaux of Church Point; grandchildren, Orenthal, Terry, Brittany, Nicholas, Donielle, Trevor and Richard Seth Breaux, Jarred and Jazmin Jones, Markeitha Washington, Natalie Cole and Melvin Cole; great-grandchildren, Orenthal II, Askia, Jasmine and Terrian Breaux; two nephews, Rodney Senegal of Port Arthur, Texas, and Harcus Steward, New Orleans; and one niece,Johnella Fowler of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thera F. Breaux;two children, Jean Percy Breaux, Jr., and Barbara Jean Breaux; and his parents, Louis and Rosa Breaux.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wilturner Funeral Home of Crowley.
