Gaspard honored with surprise 80th birthday celebration

On June 26, 2010, Dean Gaspard was given a surprise 80th birthday celebration at the home of Darlene and Joel Landry.

The party was given by her two children and their significant others, daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Joel Landry, and son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Linda Gaspard.

Eighty of Gaspard’s family and friends joined her in celebrating her birthday, including 11 of her 12 grandchildren and 21 of her 28 great-grandchildren. The younger children enjoyed a fun jump and slip-n-slide at the party..

Gaspard’s actual birthday was July 17, but the party was thrown about a week later.

The party featured a menu of shrimp fettuccine, Mexican salad and trimmings and boiled crabs.

For her cake, Gaspard enjoyed a 4-foot alligator cake with a silver boiling pot and edible crabs on the top for decoration.

At the party, a display table with her crafts was put out. The crafts shown included tatted cross, crochet thread, yo-yo doll. There were also pictures of Gaspard in her younger years on the table.

A slide show was presented to Gaspard showing her from her birth to the present day.

Gaspard was married to the late Andrus “She-Neg” Gaspard. They had two other sons the late Ronnie Gaspard and late Randy Gaspard.
