Gents cruise to Eunice Bobcat Relays title
EUNICE – The Crowley Gents logged six first-place finishes and three runnersup spots last weekend to run away with the overall team title at the Eunice High Bobcat Relays.
The Gents scored 119 points overall and they were followed by Tiago (105), Teurlings (89), Port Barre (83), Notre Dame (52), Eunice (38), Rayne (32.5), Bunkie (24), Opelousas Catholic (7.5), Ville Platte (4) and Oakdale (3).
Crowley speedster Tonori Boutte once again led the charge, claiming top honors in the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 10.47 and 21.57, respectively. He also teamed with Kristian Allen, Kaleb Cormier and Taylor Doughty to win the 4x200 (1:31.71) and 4x400 (3:33.43) relays.
Allen followed Boutte in the 200-meter dash, taking second in a time of 22.20 while Doughty placed third in the 400-meter run (53.09).
Rontravious Foreman finished second in the 3200 (11:09.25) and was third in the 300 hurdles (43.28).
In the field, Kaleb Cormier won the long jump (20-3) and Joski Banks took top honors in the triple jump (42-3). Devin Hebert placed second in the discus (128-4 1/2).
Notre Dame recorded two second-place showings and three third-place finishes.
Joseph Schmid was runnerup in the triple jump (41-3) while Blake Miller was second in the 100-meter dash (10.72).
Sean Bezdek finished third in the 1600 (5:11.65) and the 3200 (11:09.81) and Hunter Stelly was third in the javelin (164-2).
Rayne’s Ryan Larry was second in the high jump (5-10) and third in the long jump (19-10) while Bryan Babineaux placed third in the pole vault (10-6).
Oakdale won the meet on the girls’ side with 87 points. Eunice was second with 78 and Teurlings came in third with 71.
Notre Dame finished fourth with 55 points followed by Ville Platte (54), Bunkie (44.5), Crowley (34), Port Barre (28), Tioga (24), Opelousas Catholic (22) and Rayne (21.5).
Notre Dame’s Kali Zaunbrecher placed first in the 300 hurdles (50.56) and Kylie Pannell was first in the high jump (5-1).
Logging third-place showings for the Lady Pios were Ann Petitjean in the javelin (88-6), Lauren Meyer in the 800 (2:42.3) and Mishka Mire in the 400 (1:08.5).
Kara Wilridge recorded the only first-place finish for the CHS Ladies in the triple jump (33-11) while Mercedes Rogers was second in the long jump (15-11) and Isis Broussard was third in the 200 (27.44)
Rayne’s Nia Taylor was third in the triple jump (33-0).
