George L. “Pugy” Borne
George L. “Pugy” Borne passed away at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, on Friday, November 6, 2009.
He was the beloved husband of Patsy Credeur Borne for the last 52 years.
He was a resident of Gramercy for the past 40 years and a native of Rayne.
He was the loving father of Lisa Borne Loftin (Ted), Tammie Borne Cormier (L.J.) and Todd P. Borne (Michele). He was the grandfather of Robert Hunter and Devin Cormier. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Borne, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar “Poco” Borne, Sr. and Bertha K. Borne; his only sister, Gloria Perrodin; and brothers, Oscar Borne, Jr. and Richard Carol Borne.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School in Rayne.
He retired from Freeport McMoran with over 30 years of service. After retirement, he worked as a consultant for Nitron Chemical in Greenwich, Connecticut, until June of this year.
Throughout his life he was active in his community as a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy; a member of the VFW Post 5852; Lutcher-Gramercy Lions Club; a former member of the South Louisiana Port Commission; a member of the Port Sulphur Fire Department for 10 years; a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.; a past member of Sacred Heart Parish Council and a member of the Town of Gramercy Planning Commission.
“Pugy” has left a legacy of good will, laughter and friendship for all to remember and reflect upon. As much as he will be missed, he will be remembered and cherished forever.
Visitation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, followed by a Memorial Mass in his honor.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Paulina, LA. The invitation is open to all who wish to honor his memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to The National Shrine of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos or to reduce the debt of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, P. O. Box 129, Paulina, LA 70763.
