Glenda Rae Henderson Olinde
SALISBURY – Glenda Rae Henderson Olinde, 65, of Salisbury, died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury after a long battle with cancer.
Glenda was born on January 31, 1944 in Crowley, Louisiana, to the late Charles Reese Henderson and Flora (Kilmer) Henderson.
Born and raised in Louisiana, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University and taught there in the cooperative extension service. She also taught high school vocational home economics and physical science. After moving to Salisbury in 1987, she was employed for Salisbury University and then later worked for Long and Foster Real Estate. While working for Long and Foster Real Estate she earned the Outstanding Service Award and the Courage Award from her peers. She was a member of the Wicomico County Garden Club. Glenda enjoyed gardening, entertaining, playing bridge and tennis with her friends. She loved to spend time with her family, especially time with her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Alford (Al) Joseph Olinde of Salisbury, children, Gregory Joseph Olinde and his wife, Emmajane, of Fruitland, Maryland, Geoffrey Alford Olinde and his wife, Siobhan, of Arlington, Virginia and Renee’ Edna Olinde Hood and her husband, Bruce, of Timonium, Maryland. Glenda is also survived by her grandchildren, Grace Renee, Victoria Leigh and Mason Gregory Olinde, Sophia Christine and Keeley Rae Hood and four sisters, Charleen Precht and her husband, Charles D. Precht, Jr. of Iota, Louisiana, Nita Harrington and her husband, Don, of Lafayette, Louisiana, Margaret Albertine and her husband, Richard, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Donna Comeaux and her husband, Bruce, of Lafayette, Louisiana and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home. Interment will be at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
