The Grand Opera House of the South hosts musical
By Katherine Miller
CROWLEY – The Grand Opera House of the South will host one of the most beloved plays on Broadway on Friday and Saturday, May 22 and 23.
This smash hit musical, entitled “I love you, you’re perfect, now change,” will run under the direction of Jerrod Arabie, treasurer of the Abbey Players.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to present the show again,” Arabie continued, “It’s a great show. Last year, the tickets sold out so fast that this time, I hope that the people who missed it will be able to attend.”
As described by the players, this play is a lighthearted celebration of the mating game, which tackles the truths and myths behind the contemporary conundrum of the “relationship.” It is a frothy, fun look at the absurdity of love, and this clever musical revue reveals the difficulties of connecting with another person, no matter what age.
“The play involves about 20 little skits that come together to make a great show,” he added.
Arabie raved that the cast of the show maintains a good chemistry, and said with a laugh that “even the men who were dragged there by their wives ended up enjoying themselves.”
Also, Arabie remarked, “We are excited, not only to perform the play, but to have it take place in such an unbelievable venue as the Opera House.”
Crew members will be in Crowley this coming Wednesday in preparation for Friday and Saturday’s events.
Show times on both days have been set for 8 p.m. To purchase tickets, call the Grand Opera House of the South at 785-0440, or log on to www.iloveyoushow.com.
