Gueydan approves drainage prop
GUEYDAN - The residents of Gueydan voted 198 to 8 to renew a 10-year 13.42 mills drainage proposition in District 5.
The millage is for constructing, improving, maintaining and operating drainage works in the district.
With 70 percent of the precincts reported, it looks like it will be a 15-parish run-off between Clyde Holloway and Joe McPherson for the Louisiana Public Service Commission.
Holloway had 44 percent of the votes (21,548) while McPherson had 40 percent (19,251).
Gil Pinac had 15 percent or 7,511 votes.
Parishwide, only five percent (1,870) of the people went to the poll.
