Guidry, Richard exchange vows in double ring ceremony
CROWLEY - Georgie Danette Guidry of Mermentau and Blake Mitchell Richard of Crowley were united in the sacrament of holy matrimony on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 1 p.m. The Reverend Father Gary Schexnayder officiated the double ring ceremony at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
The scripture was read by Megan Bourliea and Madison Smith and musical selections were played by T.J. Gautreaux.
The bride, “Gigi” is the daughter of Charlie and Wendy Guidry of Mermentau and she is the granddaughter of Warren and Lillia Guidry and the late Mike and Georgie Frugé and step-granddaughter of the late Linda Frugé, all of Mermentau. She is a 2003 graduate of Midland High School. She earned a degree in communications at LSU in 2008 and she currently works as a technician at C & G Containers in Lafayette.
The groom is the son of the late Glenn Richard and Trudy Richard of Crowley. Blake’s grandparents are the late Douglas and Una Richard of Crowley, Jessie Miller of Crowley and Wilda Green of Spring, Texas. He is a 2005 graduate of Crowley High School and is currently employed by Moncla.
Escorted by her father, Gigi was radiant in ivory. Her strapless organza gown was beaded and featured a champagne overlay and modest train. Her ensemble was complimented with a delicate ivory shoulder length veil and a bridal bouquet of pink and white roses.
Gigi wore pearl jewelry representing something old, her wedding gown was new, she borrowed her grandmother’s rosary and her garter was blue.
The bride was attended by two maids of honor; her sister, Jill Guidry and her good friend, Robyn Stoot. Her bridesmaids were Elizabeth Trahan, Megan Montet and Jamie Breaux. They were beautiful in their fuchsia, strapless dresses, each in a different design. They carried a handful of daisies.
The best man was Keith Smith, brother of the groom. His groomsmen were his friends Kevin Breaux, Mike Spell, Jason Melancon and Franzel Marcel.
Chris Bergeaux, cousin of the bride was the usher. The ring bearer was Dayne Frugé, cousin of the bride.
The bride’s mother, Wendy Frugé Guidry, was dressed in a black and fuchsia pantsuit adorned with a rose corsage.
The mother of the groom, Trudy Miller Richard, wore a floral dress in fuchsia and clover green, and her ensemble was embellished with a rose corsage.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Rice Festival Building in Crowley. The bridal table and the attendants’ tables were covered with linen tablecloths, layered with fuchsia and clover green runners and decorated with fuchsia, clover green and white flowers. Drinks were served in a pirogue.
The bride’s ivory cake was a four layer square confection which was highlighted by pearl dots and daisies. Each delicious layer was a different flavor. Gigi’s godmother, Annette LeGros served the bridal cake.
The groom’s cake was a strawberry cake with LSU and camouflage theme.
Out of town guests traveled from Texas and different parts of Louisiana.
After the wedding the couple departed for their honeymoon in New Orleans. They will reside in Lewisburg.
