Hattie Miller Doucet
JENNINGS - Funeral services for Hattie Miller Doucet, 101, will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Miller French Baptist Church with Reverend Garland Reed officiating.
Mrs. Doucet was called to her Heavenly Father Monday afternoon at her home in Gottës Cove. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Wednesday, March 17 from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m.. The family requests visitation to be held at Miller French Baptist Church on Thursday, March 18 from 8 a.m. until the time of her services. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Simon Doucet, in the Miller French Baptist Cemetery.
Hattie was born to the late Aurelian and Josephine Fruge Miller in Gottís Cove where she spent her entire life. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. As a young woman, she loved to lead the music at church and sing. Hattie also enjoyed sewing, cooking, quilting, and canning, but family was the most important thing in her life. As one of her many blessings that came later in her life, Mrs. Doucet received her high school diploma at the age of 72. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Leaving behind to cherish her memories are her beloved children, Melvin (Durelia) Doucet of Tioga, Robert (Emily) Doucet of Hathaway, Reverend Howard (Dianna) Doucet of Gottís Cove, Lela R. Jowers of Pineville and Betty (Charlie) Appleton of Water Valley, MS; and her nineteen beautiful grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren, and two great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aurelian and Josephine Fruge Miller; husband, Simon Doucet; her daughter, Vena Miller; four brothers, Rufus Miller, Louis “Judge” Miller, Aldes Miller, and Elson Miller; three sisters, Gladys Ewing, Thea Monceaux, Elta Mae Breaux.
Carrying Mrs. Doucet to her eternal resting place will be Tracy Lowry, Keith Doucet, Clifford McLemore, Daniel Doucet, Dr. Jamie Doucet, and Mark Doucet. Honorary pallbearers will include Harold Miller, Wesley Miller, Chip LeBlanc, Cody LeBlanc, Donna Downey, and Robert McLemore.
