Head Start registration kicks off in VIlle Platte
Head Start registration begins February 17, in Evangeline Parish for all students who plan to attend head start school next year.
In Ville Platte, students residing in Ville Platte and Chataignier will be able to register at the Evangeline Community Action Agency’s Head Start Administration Office beginning Tuesday, February 17, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Bayou Chicot students will be able to register at Calvary Baptist Church Thursday, February 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Mamou students will register Friday, February 20, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Celestine Center.
Basile students will register Friday, February 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Basile Head Start Center.
If parents miss their designated day, they can visit the Ville Platte site at 222 S. Coreil Street.
All applicants must meet the following requirements:
•A child must be three or four years old by September 30. Applications will be taken for those turning three by December 31, but they cannot be accepted into the program until they turn three years old.
•All income in household for the year 2008 must be verified (check stubs are not acceptable).
•If a child has a medical card, it must be presented.
•An official birth certificate is required. Baptismal or christening certificates are not acceptable.
•An updated immunization record showing HIB vaccine. Card must be stamped by the health unit or doctor’s office that gave the immunization.
•A social security card.
•The Head Start program is now recruiting children with identified disabilities. An evaluation from the specialist in the area of the disability must be provided.
