Health walks slated at Poverty Point
Poverty Point State Historic Site is announcing the second annual “Health Walk” program beginning Jan. 15.
The walk will be held at the site, and is geared for various levels of fitness, starting with the half-mile walk and ending with a two mile walk around the site.
The walk will begin promptly at 3 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. on the evenings of Tuesdays and Thursdays. The walk is open to the public and is free of charge.
A great way to walk off those extra holiday pounds. So put on your walking shoes and come on out to the site and let’s walk for your health.
Poverty Point SHS offers visitors the opportunity to study the culture of area inhabitants from 1600 to 1100 B.C.
The $2 admission to the historic site provides access to the area museum, video and self-guided nature tour.
Children (12 and under) and senior citizens (62 and over) are admitted free. Poverty Point is located in West Carroll Parish, east of Monroe on La 577.
