Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2009, in St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Crowley, with Father Gary Schexnayder officiating, for Helen Stewart, 79, of Crowley, who died at 6:40 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2009, in
Camelot Nursing Home of Crowley.
Burial was in the St. Francis Cemetery in Iota.
Visitation was held from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Monday.
A rosary was recited by Ms. Ding Hoffpauir at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Stewart, Sr., Crowley; two daughters, Elaine Smith and her husband Wayde, Scott, and Ginger Stewart, Crowley; two sons, Joe Stewart, Jr., and his wife Kris, Clermont, Fla., and Jeff Steward and his wife Lisa, Crowley; five grandchildren, Blair of wife Candace Smith, Tammy Smith, Tiffany Stewart, Brett and wife Heather Stewart and Casey Stewart; two sisters, Isabelle Roller, Crowley, and Mabel Brewer, Westlake; three brothers, Horace Doucet, Sulphur, Allen Doucet, Alborado, Texas, and Herman Doucet, Basile.
She was preceded in death by her father, Horace Doucet; her mother, Clemence LaCombe Doucet; one sister, Lilly Albin; and two brothers, Wilfred and J.D. Doucet.
Mrs. Stewart was a vert caring and loving person. She was a friend to many, even strangers. If someone needed her help or guidance, she was the one who would always put her helping hand. She will be sadly missed and cherished always.
