CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Hellas Gaspard, 73, who died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at his residence in Crowley. The Reverend Matthew Higginbotham will officiate for the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 23, 2008 from 8 a.m. until services.
Mr. Gaspard retired as a service technician for Orkin and later owned and operated a lawn maintenance service with his wife. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He will be sadly missed by his family and loved ones.
Mr. Gaspard is survived by his wife, Marie LaPoint Gaspard of Crowley; his daughter Cynthia G. Thibodeaux, also of Crowley; his son, Ken Gaspard of Baton Rouge; five brothers, Hilliard Gaspard of Rayne, Robert Gaspard of Crowley, Raymond Gaspard of Port Arthur, Texas, Alphie Gaspard, Jr. of Sulphur, and Johnny Gaspard of Jennings; a sister, Mary Connor of Lake Arthur and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphie and Mary Myers Gaspard; his grandson, Blake A. Thibodeaux; and four sisters, Helen, Thelma, and Tammy Gaspard and Ella Mae Meche.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested monetary donations.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Heart of Hospice of Lafayette.
