CARLYSS- A funeral Mass for Henry Miller, 89, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at St Theresa Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. Monday in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Henry, a WWII Veteran, was a longtime resident of the Carlyss community and retired from Firestone Rubber Co. He lived our Cajun heritage. As a member of the Cajun French Music Association (CFMA) and the Veterans Of Foreign Wars (VFW), he loved to celebrate life with family, friends, and french dancing, especially with Beulah, his devoted and loving wife for 64 years.
Immediate family includes his loving wife Beulah Miller; sons Nathan Miller and his wife Dolores of Carlyss, and Birge Miller and his wife Regenia of New Orleans; grandchildren and great grandchildren Shane Miller and his wife Dwana of Sulphur, and their children Tori and Kody; Jeannie Fontenot and her husband Michael of Ville Platte, and their children Kaylen, Wacen, and Ali.
Henry was the eldest of 11 children from the Iota and Tee Mamou area. He was the brother of U.L. Miller, Geneive Miller, Lula Mae Reed, and Martha Kebodeaux all of Iota, Lee Miller of Scott, and J.C. Miller of Sulpher. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Louis E. and Analice Daigle Miller, his brothers Edward “Red” and William “ta-tee” Miller, his sisters Tiara Jane Miller and Lillie Bearb.
In lieu of flowers, donations and prayers may be offered to St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Carlyss.
