Herpin, Walters united in holy matrimony

In a candlelight ceremony May 23 at 7 p.m. Miss Jennifer Nicole Herpin became the bride of Ian Christopher Walters. Monsignor Russell Harrington officiated at the double-ring ceremony and nuptial Mass in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.

The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Jan Herpin. Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hargroder, Jr. of Crowley and Mrs. Ethel Herpin of Gueydan and the late Harrison Herpin.

The bride-groom’s parents are Leonard Wayne Walters and the late Rita Gayle Walters of Carencro. Grandparents of the groom are Mrs. Rita Lormand and the late Gussy Lormand of Lafayette, and the late Huey Walters and the late Patsy Guilbeau of Broussard.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white strapless fit and flare gown with a corset back. Created from Capri taffeta the gown was embellished with beaded lace ornamenting the bodice necklace and accenting the side waist and lower hip. The elegant side gathered design finished the dress with a chapel length train. She carried a bouquet of calla lilies and roses.

Maid of honor was Tracy Herpin, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Herpin, sister of the bride; Jessica Fontenot and Candice Ardoin, friends of the bride. The bridesmaids wore strapless A-line gowns of pewter satin with a cascading back. Each carried a bouquet of lavender roses.

Best man was Jacob Cooley, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Matt Gaspard, Roy Venable and Jacque Boutin, friends of the groom. The groomsmen wore black Tuxedos with pewter vests.

Ushers were Mark Herpin, brother of the bride; Trevor Braun, Micah Cooley and Beau Higginbotham, friends of the groom.

Other special participants in the ceremony were readers Ellen Habetz, cousin of the bride and Bernell Lemaire, Godmother of the bride. Gift bearers were Wade and Vanessa Babineaux, Godfather and Aunt of the groom. Music was provided by Katie, Paige and Stephen Rees, friends of the bride and members of the band “L’Angelus.”

Following the wedding, a reception was held at Keith’s The Ballroom.

After returning from a honeymoon cruise to Cozumel, the couple will reside in Lafayette.
