CROWLEY – Friday, May 8, 2009 served as a very memorable day for members of the Jack C. Hoffpauer, Clark M. Hoffpauer and William L. Hoffpauer families, as the dedication of a memorial was erected in their honor.
The memorial, which stands near the flag poles of the Acadia Parish Tourist Information Center, honors these families for their generous donation of land that houses the facility.
A host of friends and family members gathered for the special morning ceremony that took place on the front lawn of the Tourist Commission Center. Cheryl McCarty, tourist commission president, welcomed all present. Distinguished guests in attendance, including representatives from the office of Congressman Charles Boustany, who donated the American flag, and of former state senator Gerald Theunissen, who donated the Louisiana flag.
“We thank everyone for being here, as you have all in some way helped to make this day possible,” McCarty expressed.
Scoutmaster Daniel Besse, Rayne Boy Scout Troop 61, led all in the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem was sung by Jean Norman, accompanied by Tom Norman, both in French and English.
A special invocation was given by Reverend James Proctor.
Following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed a reception inside the Acadia Parish Tourist Information Center.
