House burns in Cypress Island

THE REMAINS of a young family’s home in Cyrpess Island sit in smoldering shambles after not one but two fires.

The first occurred around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, when nobody home. The second, possibly a re-ignition of the first, happened sometime that night. No one was hurt. Homeowners Dylan and Tiffany Bertrand praised the actions and sensitivity of the responding volunteer fire departments and the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.
