I-10 Crash causes road closures, claims four lives

GROSSE TETE - State police say at least four people

are dead and a portion of Interstate 10 westbound is closed after a

fiery crash involving three 18-wheelers and a car near Grosse Tete.

Investigators say a 15-year-old girl survived the crash and was

not seriously injured.

Troopers tell WAFB-TV an eastbound 18-wheeler sideswiped another

that was stopped on the shoulder early Friday. The driver lost

control, crossed the median and collided head-on into a third

18-wheeler traveling west.

Troopers say the second collision caused a fire. Once the fire

was out, they found a car in the wreckage.

None of the names of those involved have been released.

Westbound traffic is being diverted at the La. Highway 415 to

U.S. Highway 190
