Important dates for high school students for new school year announced

A number of important dates are approaching for the start of the new school year for Rayne High and Notre Dame students and parents. Please mark your calendars.


The first day for the 2013-2014 school year approaches for students at Rayne High School with a number of important dates scheduled.

School will be open Aug. 6-8 for students to complete the following:

- take ID (students must be in proper uniform with no facial hair, facial piercings, and school appropriate hair length and color); registration cost is $15 now, $20 when school begins, which covers ID and new student planner; receive schedules; select locker; receive text books; and submit schedule change requests.

Dates are assigned for each grade:

Tuesday, Aug. 6 (8 a.m. - 3 p.m.) seniors and special education;

Wednesday, Aug. 7 (8 a.m. - 12 noon) juniors, and sophomores (12-3 p.m.);

Thursday, Aug. 8 (8 a.m.-3 p.m.) freshmen.

Parents are invited to meet the administration and discuss the upcoming school year and school rules.

Parent meetings are scheduled for each grade as follows:

Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 7:30 a.m. for parents of seniors and special education; Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 a.m. for parents of juniors and sophomore; Thursday, Aug. 8 at 7:30 a.m. for parents of freshmen.

Due to registration for enrolled students, the office will not be enrolling new students August 6-8; new student enrollment will be held Aug. 1-5 and Aug. 9 until the start of the school year.


As Notre Dame welcomes students, faculty and staff back in August, a busy month awaits them and their families.

Please be advised of the August schedule below and the change in the school’s uniform policy as it relates to shoes:

Aug. 7th - Freshman Orientation from 8 – 11 a.m. in the NDHS gym (forms can be … you can download from the website:

Aug. 8th - Faculty retreat from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Aug. 9th - Faculty in-service from 7:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Aug. 12th - First day for seniors and freshmen with dismissal at 1 p.m.

Aug. 13th - First day for juniors and sophomores with 1 p.m. dismissal.

Aug. 14th - Full Day for all students.

Aug. 15th - Liturgy at 9:05 a.m. for the Feast of the Assumption.

Aug. 19th - “Meet the PIOS” at 6:30 p.m.

Aug. 21th: Back to School Night.

Aug. 25th - Auditions for school play.

Aug. 26th - Safe Environment Training beginning at 6 p.m. (initial) and at 6:30 p.m. (continuing) in room 26 at the school.

Aug. 31st - Back to School Dance.
