Internet crime investigation leads to discovery of marijuana

DELCAMBRE - According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon and Abbeville Police Chief Rick Coleman, the Vermilion Parish Municipal Narcotics Task Force conducted a joint investigation with the Vermilion Parish Criminal Investigations Computer Forensics Division following a complaint was received in regards to Internet Crime in Delcambre.

The Sheriff said that on June 31, 2008 a search warrant was executed at 203 N. Main Delcambre, a residence occupied by Ty LeBlanc date of birth 10/17/68, and during the course of the search, detectives and agents located and confiscated a large amount of computer related equipment as well as a hydroponic marijuana growing operation with eight suspected marijuana plants with street value of $12,000.00 found within the makeshift growing station, as well as one 12 gauge shotgun.

Sheriff Couvillon says that the investigation is still ongoing by the Vermilion Parish Criminal Investigative Division and additional charges may be forthcoming.

Finally, Sheriff Couvillon says that warrants have been issued for the arrest of Ty LeBlanc for cultivation of marijuana and illegal possession of a Firearm with C.D.S. present with bond being set at $7,500.00. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Ty LeBlanc, they are urged to contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division at 898-4403or 898-4400.
