Iota lands four on 4-3A All District team
IOTA – After a remarkable softball season that saw Iota fall just shy of reaching the Fast Pitch 56 State Tournament, four Lady Bulldogs earned recognition on the 4-AAA All-District team that was recently announced.
Lauren LeJeune, Celina Bobbett, Lauren Dupre and Carlie Thevis each earned first-team honors while three other Lady Dogs - Maggie Frey, Ariel Gotte and Laura Cart - were named to the second unit.
LeJeune was Iota’s workhorse on the mound, logging 120 innings and 12 victories during her junior campaign. She finished the season with an earned run average of 1.25 and she struck out 119 batters.
LeJeune was also a force at the plate, hitting .388 with two triples.
The other three pitchers on the first team include Westlake’s Maggie Bradshaw, St. Louis’ Kacie Franklin and Jennings’ Rachel Bourne.
Bobbett made the team at third base, hitting .308. The junior also hit one home run on the year.
St. Louis nabbed two spots on the infield in catcher Alexis Hutto and shortstop Kourtney Kober.
Westlake, the league champion, also landed two on the infield in first baseman Brittany Carlin and second baseman Kylie Goodeaux.
Iowa’s Ashley Cezair, St. Louis’ Maddie Landry and Westlake’s Kasha Carpenter make up the outfield.
Iota seniors Dupre and Thevis join Iowa’s Megan Deshotel and Westlake’s Alyssa Query and Chelsea Evans as utility players.
Dupre, a catcher for the Lady Dogs, hit .378 while Thevis, a left fielder, hit .423 with two triples.
Bradshaw earned the Most Valuable Player award while Westlake’s Jessica Provost was tabbed as the Coach of the Year.
Frey earned second team honors at first base after hitting .366 with four doubles and Gotte made the team at shortstop despite being Iota’s flex player and not hitting.
Cart, Iota’s two-hole hitter, made the team at utility. The speedy slap hitting sophomore posted a .266 in district play and had an on base percentage of .691.
Iota’s Jessica Rasberry, Katy Comeaux and Gabbi Heinen were named to the honorable mention list.
