RAYNE – Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2009 for Irene Olinger Petitjean, 81, who died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Plaquemine.
Entombment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Rayne.
She was born March 28, 1927, daughter of the late Edward and Josephine Dischler Olinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ashton S. Petitjean.
Surviving are three daughters, Charlotte Petitjean Gulotta and husband Charles, of Plaquemine, Darlene Petitjean Russell, of Lafayette, and Annette Petitjean Ebert and husband John, of Mandeville; eight grandchildren, Christi Gulotta Pierce and husband Ellis, Candace and Chancy Gulotta, Natalie Russell, and Ashton, Sophie, Emma and Madeleine Ebert; two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Charlie Pierce; three brothers, Ambrose and Ray Olinger, of Roberts Cove, and Hilary Olinger, of Rayne; and three sisters, Beatrice O. Leonards, of Eunice, Rose Marie O. John, of Crowley, and Mary Jo Olinger, of Roberts Cove.
She was a member of Court Rayne, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Joseph Altar Society and St. Leo Altar Society.
Friends will be received at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 9 a.m. until church services.
