Jack recognized for perfect attendance

Callen Jack, a kindergarten teacher at Vidrine Elementary School, was recognized for having perfect attendance for the 2007-2008 school year.

She says, “This is a big accomplishment for me. It feels great! I was there every day for my class and I love teaching.” Jack invites other teachers to try it. “It’s not an easy thing to do. I thank God for giving me good health and the strength to accomplish my goal. I would like to dedicate my perfect attendance this year in memory of my mom, Verly Adams, who passed away last year on July 1. My mom said to go to work every day and don’t miss work unless its an emergency. Her advice and teachings will remain with me all the days of my life. This is what encouraged me to try very hard to go to work each day. I want to thank my big sister, Joicie, for taking care of my child when he was ill so I could go to work. This really helped me to accomplish my goal.”

Jack is the proud single mother of two sons, 23-year-old Jaworski and 13-year-old Jiles.

Jack says, “I would like to encourage the school board to consider giving teachers with perfect attendance some kind of incentive each year. This may help the teachers in the parish strive for perfect attendance. Our students get perfect attendance certificates, and teachers can too.”

She also had perfect attendance four other years during her teaching career, 1982-83, 1984-85, 1987-88 and 2001-02. Jack admits, “Five years with perfect attendance during my 31 years thus far is truly a blessing from God. I don’t know if I can do it again, but I will try. Now it’s back to school time and I’m ready!”
