Jack visits VPHS
Many students have come and gone from Ville Platte High School, so it is always heartwarming when one of these students returns to share his story.
On Wednesday, January 13th, Gunnery Sgt. Efton Jack, class of 1981, shared his experiences as a 26-year member of the Marine Corps with Mitzi Fontenot’s career class. Sgt. Jack has traveled the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand. He served in Kuwait and Iraq and has not only served his country well, but has proudly represented his community. Everyone has a story to tell, and Sgt. Jack’s is very inspiring. He encouraged students to dream big. His success again proves the age-old adage that it’s not circumstances that determine one’s destiny, but it’s the way one responds to those circumstances. Although Sgt. Jack has traveled the world, he says at heart he will always be a “Bulldog.” A great big “Thank You” to Sgt. Jack and all the other members of the armed forces who have made so many sacrifices so we may enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
