JENNINGS – Services for Jacques Laurents Campbell, 75, will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Gueydan with Rev. Douglas Millison officiating the services.
He died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at his home in Winnie, Texas. Mr. Campbell was born in Gueydan to Melchior and Rose Aline Laurents Campbell.
Burial will be held in the Kutsch Cemetery in Rural Morse following his services.
Mr. Campbell was a retired farmer and rancher. Ranching was his passion in life. He also loved to ride horses and make whips. Mr. Campbell served on the board of directors at Slemco for many years. He is on the Hall of Fame at McNeese State University for his rodeo team. Mr. Campbell was also a Mason. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his three sons, Timothy Campbell and wife Theresa of Gueydan, Jeffrey Campbell and wife Geraldine of Nederland, Texas, and Hampton Campbell and his wife Alison of Gueydan; one daughter, Peggy Campbell of Jennings; one brother, Charles Campbell and wife Josefina of Luling; one sister, Caledonia Searle and her husband Bill of Gueydan; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Melchior.
Visitation will be held at the First Methodist Church on Thursday, December 4 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Friday, December 5 from 8 a.m. until time of services.
