James "Dan" Mire
LAFAYETTE – Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for James “Dan” Mire, 68, who passed away Saturday evening, September 13, 2008 at his residence in Scott.
The Rev. Gilbert Dutel, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Giftbearers will be Ashley Duhon and Amy Doucet.
Mr. Mire was a native of Mermentau and was a resident of Scott. He had been employed with Teche Electric for 42 years and was a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. A veteran of the military, Mr. Mire had served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Richard Mire of Scott; two sons, Wayne Doucet and his wife, Donna, of Scott, and Guy James Mire of Scott; one daughter, Sandra D. Hebert and her husband, Glenn, of Scott; one sister, Heloise Guidry of Opelousas; six grandchildren, Danielle Meaux, Heather Arceneaux, Ashley Duhon and her husband, Kerm, Jonathon Doucet and his wife, Tonia, Amy Doucet, and Brittany Mire; and six great grandchildren, Faith Stelly, Brailee Arceneaux, Kylin Leger, Abagail Meaux, McKayla Duhon, and Blaze Duhon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Joseph Mire and Elba Lantier Mire, both natives of Lafayette Parish.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Doucet, Guy Mire, Jonathon Doucet, Glenn Hebert, Jody Guidry and Bennett Guidry, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennett Guidry, Sr. and Mac Hayes.
