Jamie Lynn Price named 2010 Deb Queen
The 2010 annual Debutante Ball was held Saturday, May 1, at the Rayne Civic Center by the local Ebonite Civic and Social Club of Rayne, Inc.
Named queen during the pagentry was Jamie Lynn Price, the 17-year-old daughter of Gwen Brumfield and James Price.
She is a junior at Rayne High School and her escort was Freddie Neal Broussard. Jamie’s future plans are to complete high school then attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she will major in law.
Making the presentation was last year’s honoree, Jasmine Daney Cook.
Named First Runner-Up was Leslie Dominique Threatts, 18-year-old daughter of LaTanya Threatts and William Foster. She is a senior at Notre Dame High School and was escorted for the evening by Janathan Bryce Mouton. Leslie was also awarded the prestigious honor of Miss Congeniality.
Introduced as Second Runner-Up was LaPagedrea Symone Broussard, 18-year-old daughter of Andrea Broussard. She is a junior at Acadiana High School and her escort for the event was Tristen Arceneaux.
Completing the 2010 court were:
Kanysha Marie Roberts, 18-year-old daughter of Tonya Roberts and Leroy Portalis. She is a senior at Rayne High School and was escorted by Patrick Gabriel, Jr.
Marsharee Renee Mayfield, 17-year-old daughter of Rockelle Renee Mayfield and Spencer Carrier. She is a junior at Rayne High School and was escorted for the program by Shawn Anthony Carrier, Jr.
Jazzmin Jeorgiana Laneece Evans, 17-year-old daughter of Jeffrey and Mary Alice Evans. She is a junior at Rayne High School and was escorted for the program by DaQuan Wycoff.
Extending greetings and a welcome of the special event was Ebonite president Jacqueline Wiltz, who introduced the Ebonite officers, including vice president Gwendolyn Brumfield, treasurer Iownia S. Francis, financial secretary Christine Freeman, recording secretary Linda Brumfield, corresponding secretary Allyson Brumfield, parliamentarian Stephanie Breaux, historians Evelyn Julian and Earlene Thomas, and members Deanna Begnaud, Edra Broussard, Joan F. Brown, Roxyanne Guillory, Ella Mae Handy, Jane Lois Harmon, Ursula Hawkin, Elaine Sias, Anna D. Washington and Theresa B. Wilson.
Serving as mistress of ceremony was Evelyn W. Julian, who recognized the last year’s honoree and the past Debutante queens in attendance.
The 2010 debs and their escorts for the evening presented a minuet choreographed by Gwen Brumfield.
The “Toast to Royalty” was presented by Katie Jolivette, followed by the waltz by the debutantes and their fathers, along with the escorts and their mothers.
Music for general dancing was provided by Hotline.
