Jeff Davis Arts Council announces Mini Grants

The Jeff Davis Arts Council has announced their annual Art-In-Education Mini Grants. Any teacher within the parish is eligible for up to $400.00 for any classroom art project.

An application outlining the project description, benefit to the students, a budget, and approval by the principal was required. The teachers have until May to complete their programs.

Jeff Davis Arts Council Art-In-Education Mini Grants are made possible by funding from the Fred B. & Ruth B. Zigler Foundation. The following projects were awarded Art-In-Education Mini Grants:

--Marietta Marceaux of Lake Arthur Elementary and Elton Elementary Schools for a kindergarten through 6th grade Art Contest.

--Sylvia Guillory of Lacassine High School and Hathaway High School for an art competition entitled “Capturing Our Louisiana Heritage” encompassing the entire school.

--Candace Durio of Hathaway High School for a 1st grade project entitled “Faces Around the World: Children’s Hands Creating Art.”

--Maggie McGee, Becky Maples, and Mary Jane Riley of Lake Arthur Elementary for a Houston Museum of Natural Science Discovery Dome project.

--Cindy Cart of Hathaway High School for a kindergarten project called “Art in Kindergarten”.

--Amy Stanford of Welsh High School for a 9 – 12th grade project called “Mosaic Stepping Stones”.

--Kim Sonnier of Hathaway High School for a 2nd grade project called “Hooked on Art”.

--Kathy Faul of Elton Elementary for a 2nd – 5th grade “Indian Heritage Bowl” project.

--Amy Gobert of Elton High School for a 10th grade “Symbols Come Alive” project.

--Debby Fontenot & Amy Gobert of Elton High School for a 12th grade costume project “Back to the Faire”.

--Ranid Menard & Kaylyn Fruge of Elton Elementary for a 1st grade Pinch Pot project.

--Deanna Cinquemano of James Ward Elementary for a kindergarten Pinch Pot project.

--Kim Precht of James Ward Elementary for a kindergarten Pinch Pot project.

--The first grade teachers of Lake Arthur Elementary for 1st grade ceramic tile painting.

--Johnette Rogers of Lake Arthur Elementary for a 2nd grade Pinch Pot project.

The Jeff Davis Arts Council congratulates these teachers and thanks the Fred B. & Ruth B. Zigler Foundation for making art possible for parish school children.
