Jennifer Renee Beslin weds Dr. Charles Keith Richard, Jr.

Jennifer Renee Beslin of Rayne and Dr. Charles Keith Richard, Jr. of Opelousas were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne. Father Kendal Faulk officiated the seven-thirty evening nuptial mass.

The bride is the daughter of Mark and Renee Beslin of Rayne. She is the granddaughter of the Honorable Denald and Claire Beslin of Rayne, Charles Buller of Lake Charles and the late Margaret Buller.

Jennifer graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in 1999. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2003, and subsequently earned a doctorate in physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 2006. She is currently employed by Louisiana Healthcare Group at the site of Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in Lafayette.

The groom is the son of Mary Lynne Tarzetti and the late Charles “Keith” Richard. He is the grandson of the late Ken and Irma Tarzetti, formerly of New Orleans, and the late Erman and Norma Richard, formerly of Opelousas.

The groom graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2005, and from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport with an M.D. in 2009. He is employed by the Schumacher Group and is practicing as an emergency room physician at Opelousas General Hospital.

Against a musical backdrop by Kip Faulk, the bride entered on the arm of her father in an elegant, slim-line, ivory gown with a button-over zipper closure. The gown featured a high mandarin keyhole back and a fishtail train finished with scalloped edging. Its empire waist was embellished with rich decorative beading, and Swarovski crystals adorned it in its entirety. The bride’s lace veil was trimmed to match and affixed, in addition to an ivory flower in full bloom.

The bride’s bouquet was a mixture of red calla lilies and cream roses with red tips.

For good luck, the bride carried the traditional “something old” - a necklace made of a pendant belonging to her great-grandmother; “something new” - her dress; “something borrowed” - her late grandmother’s rosary; and “something blue” - her garter.

Margaret Beslin, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Kandice Mouton and Kate Woodling, friends of the bride, and Claire Ronkartz, cousin of the bride, stood as bridesmaids. They carried bouquets of red roses and were attired in two-piece, floor-length, charcoal dresses with sequined tops and wraps.

The flower girl was Addison Beslin, godchild of the bride. She wore an ivory, floor-length dress with a champagne sash at the waist while carrying a kissing ball of roses.

John Ledet, friend of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Mark Urban and Derek Alexendrenko, friends of the groom, and Rick Beslin, brother of the bride.

Jake Mouton, godchild of the bride, served the groom as ringbearer.

Male attendants were attired in black tuxedoes with latte-colored ties and vests. Boutonnieres of red roses adorned their lapels.

For the ceremony, Scriptures were recited by Denise Trahan, godmother of the bride, and Alyse Latiolais, cousin of the groom.

Adrienne Richard and Alexis Richard, cousins of the groom, and Ben Buller, godfather of the bride, presented offertory gifts.

For her daughter’s special day, the mother of the bride, the former Paula Renee Buller, selected a red off-the-shoulder chiffon dress. A corsage of red roses was a perfect complement.

Following the wedding, the couple celebrated with guests at a reception held at The Crossing at Mervine Kahn in Rayne.

Among the refreshments provided for guests was a three-tiered white wedding cake filled with a variety of flavors including butter pecan, amaretto-raspberry mousse and pistachio-Bavarian cream.

The bride also served a Ragin’ Cajun strawberry cake surrounded by chocolate-covered strawberries.

The groom’s scuba-themed cake was a chocolate confection with cookies-and-cream filling.

Out-of-town guests traveled for the wedding from France, New York, Oklahoma, Texas and various points throughout Louisiana.

Prior to the wedding, Donald Richard, uncle of the groom, hosted a rehearsal dinner and pool party at the home of Gregg and Alisa Gothreaux.

Following a wedding trip to Costa Rica, the couple will reside in Lafayette.
