Jeston Louis Courville
Jeston Louis Courville passed away on January 10, 2011 at the home of his son, James “Jim” Courville, in Jesuit Bend, LA. Jeston was born on 25 November 1922.
He is pre-deceased by his wife of 61 years, Marie Louise Joubert Courville, his father, Israel Courville, his mother Mercedes Leger Courville, one sister Neita Leger, one brother Elie Courville, and another brother, Dewey Courville who died in infancy. He leaves behind 4 sisters , Elmie Fontenot of Opelousas, Lydia Credeur of Rayne, Joyce Burton of Geenwell Springs, and Marie Williams of Ponchatoula, 2 brothers, Scurdy Courville of Lafayette and Leonard Courville of Gonzales, 2 sons, James Courville of Jesuit Bend and Patrick Courville of Lafayette, LA, 1 daughter, Polly Brousard of Butte La Rose, LA, 11 grandchildren , 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 1 uncle and numerous nieces , nephews, cousins, and friends.
As a young man, Jeston worked with his family on the farm near Prairie Basse, LA until he joined the Civilian Construction Corps and participated in the building and renovation of Chicot State Park. At 18 years of age, he married Marie Louise Joubert and took up residence for a year at White Ville, LA before going to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad. During his 41 year career with the railroad, he and Louise reared their 3 children while residing at Franklin, LA, DeRidder, LA, Eola, LA, Bunkie, LA and finally Lafayette, La where he retired in 1983 as Track Supervisor, Lafayette to New Orleans District.
Visitation and viewing will be held at Duhon Funeral Home, 900 East Texas Avenue Rayne, LA from 2 PM until 9 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 12, , and on the following day from 8 AM until before the funeral mass in the adjacent chapel room. Mass will be at 10 AM. Burial services will be immediately following the Mass at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2300 N University, Lafayette, LA.
